Making Birds Look Like They're Actually Flying

The mistake is even spacing. Real flocks bunch and trail โ€” so cluster three or four birds close together, then let one or two drift well away from the group, and angle each bird slightly differently rather than keeping them all level. Flying diagonally upward across a corner reads better than a straight horizontal line. Butterflies work the same way, but keep them lower: they belong near flowers, not near the ceiling. Pair either with a floral or tree decal and the birds instantly have somewhere to be heading.

How to Arrange Bird and Butterfly Wall Decals

A flock reads best on a diagonal rising toward a corner or window, with the gaps between birds widening as they climb - even spacing looks like wallpaper. Two or three larger birds low, the rest smaller and higher.
