Building a Sky That Works

Clouds need uneven spacing and varied sizes, or they flatten into a pattern very quickly. Largest low, smallest high and further apart. If the room already has land-based decals β€” trees, vehicles, animals β€” sit the cloud line just above them and you have a horizon, which is the single easiest way to make a wall look designed rather than decorated.

White and pale grey clouds need side light to show at all, so favour a wall that catches a lamp or window rather than the darkest corner. A single arch rainbow wants the wall to itself β€” centre it above a cot with a clear margin all round.

Cloud and Rainbow Wall Decals for Nurseries

Mostly clouds - white and minimalist, light grey, charcoal smoke and slate, blush pink and peach, sky blue, navy and indigo, and lavender - plus two rainbows: the Earthy Arch Rainbow in clay, rust and mustard, and Pastel Rainbow Dreams in peach and mint. Between them you can build almost any sky.

The Layer That Goes Over Everything Else

Cloud wall stickers are the connective tissue of a decal wall. Put them behind and above animals, balloons or trees and the separate pieces read as one scene with a horizon, instead of a row of stickers. A single arch rainbow does the opposite job - give it a wall to itself, centred above a cot or a bed, and let it be the whole idea. Pale clouds like White Whisper need side light to show their edges, so check the room before choosing white over grey.

Removable Fabric Cloud Decals for Nurseries

Peel and stick woven fabric, not vinyl - matte, non-reflective, wipe-clean, and removable and repositionable without residue, which matters when you are spacing nine clouds by eye.
